Corbin got a hold of some nail polish. I guess Foofa and Toodee wanted a mani-pedi.

I just want to put up a disclaimer to say that I was NOT home when this happened. But when I returned home, these figures looked like this, Corbin had nail polish on her face and in her hair (and on her nails and legs), and there was nail polish on the chair in the living room. Also, there was crumbled deodorant on the floor and Corbin had that smeared down both sides of her face.

Reminds me of some of the stuff I've seen on SMKR, lol.

Also, the nail polish was high up on top of the TV. Not sure how she got a hold of it. I will say it is the ONLY nail polish that is not put up in a very high bathroom cabinet. So mamas! Hide the polish or else!!

Trimming the Tree!

This year the holidays are way more exciting because Corbin really understands what's going on, and she knows that when Nick Jr. starts playing the "I Only Want a Candy Cane This Year" song and segment and the Christmas episode of Yo Gabba Gabba, it's time for the holidays!

Over the weekend we put up our fake tree, but I wasn't quite ready to decorate. I had to rearrange the room quite a bit before deciding where I wanted everything to be. By the time everything was just so, it was well past Corbin's bedtime. She REALLY wanted to decorate the tree, so she had an extremely fretful fit in which she pretty much cried herself to sleep. I made her a promise that as soon as she woke up, we would decorate the tree together.

Guess who met me in my bedroom bright and early Sunday morning?

I let Corbin do all the decorating herself. It was pretty interesting.

She put most of the decorations in one big clump in the middle of the tree.

As you can see here. :)

Freedom of expression and all that. The distribution cracks me up, especially since she did put some random ornaments around the back side of the tree.

So here's our tree! I did rearrange the ornmaments just a bit so that things looked more even and dispersed, but Corbin did most of the work. My little girl is growing so fast! And so far this year, she hasn't ripped into any of her presents. ;)

Hello friends!

Yes, I know. This blog hasn't been updated since April. In fact, it was locked up. There are a lot of creepy folks out there on the internet, AM I RIGHT? Anyway. I'm going to unlock this for a bit and see how it goes. Just in case I ever put it back to private, if you'd still like to read it, just send me your email address at toriowens at gmail dot com and I'll add you to the list. I hated that family and friends couldn't keep up with things because of some random people from Brazil and Germany stealing pictures of my kid.

Birthday Cupcakes

Corbin's birthday party was Saturday, and what a fun time we had! I was happy with the turn-out and pirate goodness. And the weather was beautiful, too, despite the forecast of afternoon thunder showers. Boo to that!

I just wanted to share some pictures of Corbi-lou that I took on the morning after her party, just after she woke up (and that child slept in until noon - she very obviously had a BLAST at her party!).

I'd like to call it, "It's my birthday and I'll eat all the leftover cupcakes if I want to!" Heehee. She's the cutest thing, isn't she? Can't believe she's about to be THREE!!!

Spring Break?

Last year for Spring Break we spent every other day at the beach.

This year?

Cold. Rain. Clouds. DEPRESSING.

And so I've spent my Spring Break doing a whole lot of nothing (aside from sleeping, cleaning, and derby). But alas! Boredom has lit a fire under my bottom to get some blogging done!

So yes. Expect pictures soon. I have Georgia Aquarium pics and a few from St. Patrick's Day in Savannah. And maybe more. I can't remember what all is still on my camera.

Flying a Kite

This video is totally blowing my mind!! I cannot believe that my little baby girl is flying a kite all by herself!!

So jealous that I'm not home to play!

I will say, though, that I had a great weekend with my baby girl. We spent a lot of one-on-one time together, including a trip to the park, and we had a blast. I love that spring is almost here! It's almost time for the BEACH!! :D

My Baby's Growing Up

I haven't blogged in a while. Not long after the teaser post for Christmas pictures, our computer bluescreened. I'm REALLY hoping we can fix it because otherwise I'll be losing a LOT of pictures of Corbin from the past year or so, and so in the meantime blogging has, as usual, fallen to the wayside. I decided to do a quick update from Christmas until now, using pictures that I've taken on my cell phone. Some of them are terrible quality, but at least I have things to look back on, right? :)

DECEMBER:

If there's two things Corbin loves, it's her skateboard and her books. Here she combines her two hobbies.

Corbin also loves drawing, and lately has become interested in drawing faces and animals. This was one of her first distinctive faces. (It's a pirate with an eyepatch!)

Corbi-lou, being silly, probably wishing it wasn't December and that she could go to the pool!

JANUARY:

Corbin got a GIANT tutu for Christmas, along with some dress-up jewelry. Here she is playing around in her accessories.

I love this picture because she looks like such a baby hipster, haha. Check the tights/legwarmers!

Honey Bee-otch has returned to the rink, and Corbin finds my skates and helmet very fascinating! Future derby dame?

FEBRUARY:

Corbin is finally PACI-FREE! I never thought the day would come, but when the paci went missing and the parents were exhausted and it was time for bed, we figured it was a good of a time as any to start. It was relatively painless at first, but she has shown her extreme displeasure by tumulting right into "Terrible Two's."

A teacher friend of mine gave some books and animal masks to Corbin. Here she's a leopard! (Corbin insisted she was a kangaroo.)

Another face drawing. This one she told us had teeth, a tongue, and ears. She has since drawn a hippo (on the wall in our bedroom in red pen) and a goldfish (outside with sidewalk chalk). Seems she has followed in her parents' footsteps with her love of reading and drawing!

Last weekend we traveled to Atlanta so I could attend the GSTA conference. Corbin, for the first time, slept in a regular bed.

Saturday I spent the day with my Athens friend Emma and her daughter Dejanae. We enjoyed lunch at Steak n Shake, yum!

The mysterious cow. This cow appeared out of NO WHERE in Corbin's arms while we were out shopping. She loved it, hugged it, kissed it, and called it her baby. There was no way I was leaving the Mall of Georgia without it.

Corbin and her new frenemy, Abby. We hoped they'd get along and play, but it turns out they wanted nothing to do with each other! Hopefully their next meeting will be more pleasant!

Another thing Corbin gets from mommy and daddy is her love of sushi, especially fish eggs. We requested some for her at Ru San's in Athens, and she DEVOURED THEM. I wonder if she'll hate us when we tell her about this when she's older? Haha.

And it's getting about time to start POTTY TRAINING! Our Athens friends Adrian and Maggie gave us an extra potty they had bought for Abby but didn't need. We're trying to get her used to the idea now, and hopefully get her started soon! I've already found her some cute Yo Gabba Gabba big girl panties!

Well, that puts us up to date! Corbin grows bigger, more beautiful, and more talkative with each day. It's hard to believe that her birthday is in less than two months and she'll be THREE!!! Like they say, time flies when you're having fun! Birthday party at the beach this year, and it's going to be PIRATE THEMED!! Yarrrr!

Yo Gabba Gabba! LIVE!

Remember way back in May when I was FREAKING OUT because Yo Gabba Gabba Live was coming to Atlanta? Well, of course I got tickets and of course, we went!!! We didn't go to Atlanta, though. We actually went to the Jacksonville show since it was closer and the tickets were actually cheaper! And we opted for the 10:30am show instead of the 7pm show so we wouldn't get back too late since I had to work the next day.

October seemed to take FOREVER to arrive, and then the end of the month even longer!! But finally, it was the day of the big show. Even though our trip was only supposed to take 2 hours, I wanted to leave with plenty of time to spare, and get out of the door by 7:30am. HOWEVER, when it came time to leave, my car had a nail in the tire!!! We rushed to Walmart and got it patched, but we didn't get out of town until around 9am. Needless to say, I was FREAKING OUT and hoping we could get there on time!

When we arrived at the venue, we couldn't find parking, so Corbin and I ran inside while Ryan drove around to find a spot before joining us. We got inside the auditorium and into our [super awesome] seats just as the show was starting! At first Corbin seemed really shy and shocked, but it wasn't long before she was totally into it! We had a blast!

And I took a TON of pictures. Like, over 100. But here are some of my favorites:

Overall, I'm not gonna lie, I think it was the best show I've ever been to. We sang all the songs, danced all the dances, participated in all the yelling and fun, and it was an absolute BLAST!!! Well worth the money and the trip to see Corbin (and me and Ryan) have so much fun! If you don't believe me, check out all the celebrities who were sighted at the L.A. show in California!! YGG is undeniable. :)

Miss (Corbin) Olivia the Pig!

The costume came out marvelously, I must say, even if trick-or-treating was sort of a bust!

Super pleased with myself, I have to admit! The ears were the hardest part to make, but I'm happy with how they came out! The costume was definitely recognizable because while we were out, some little kids said, "Aww, look! It's Olivia!"

Score one for awesomest mom ever. :) Happy Halloween!

SO! The costume is (mostly) assembled! With the help of a fellow teacher/sewer/mother, I have made the shirt and dress. They are by no means perfect, but I think for my first foray into sewing, they are magnificent!

The dress and shirt, before adding buttons. And there's supposed to be a pocket, but I'm beginning to feel it's not worth it, so I think we'll go without!

And imagine red and white tights instead of black, because that's what she'll be wearing!

And so now I just have to make the ears, and I'm REALLY hoping that's the easy part! We'll see! Can't wait until Halloween! :D

It's Almost Halloween...

So I just noticed that I haven't posted here in two months. Please forgive me. I will eventually get this show back on the road, but I let myself get overwhelmed and so now I'm occupied with other things and this has been pushed to the wayside for the time being. ALL IN GOOD TIME, my friends.

ANYWHO.

It's that time of the year. MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR. I love October, and I absolutely LOVE Halloween. Now that I have a kid, I get to dress her up and take her trick-or-treating and it's so AWESOME!! So Corbin's first Halloween, she was as cute as a pumpkin...

...and last year she was the fair and beautiful Snow White.

THIS YEAR, however...I'm making her costume by hand. And I give you...

DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN...

OLIVIA!!

So yes, we're going to be Olivia the pig this year. I'm going to be making the shirt (because I can't find one anywhere that doesn't cost an arm and a leg *coughAmericanApparelcough*) and the red dress. And the ears. Can't forget the ears!! I ordered the tights today (yay free shipping and 10% off at BabyLegs.com), so I'm not backing down or copping out! I've been putting off making the costume because I was scared to commit to making something by hand, but in the spirit of Halloween and all future Halloweens, it's time to get started!! I solemnly vow from here on out, Corbin will have the coolest costumes of all time because I WILL be making them.

She loves her chalk and crayons. And apparently she will color wherever she pleases. This includes the window sill and the screen (if no one's looking to catch her)!

Totally cheesing it! And she colored inside the chair, too!

Anytime we step out the front door, she IMMEDIATELY runs to that tree. She loves it. Therefore it is helpful, if you are in a hurry, to keep a firm hold on her hand as you make your way to the car, lol.

Grandma and Papa Lewis came down for a visit so we could head to the beach! We went down to St. Simons and the tide was reeeeeeeaaaaaallllly far out (not to mention it was the absolute hottest time of the day! EEEK!), so Corbin had a lot of room to RUN FREE!

She also found the wet gloopy sand perfect for covering herself!

Time to head out to the water to rinse ourselves off! The water was really shallow for pretty far out with hardly any waves.

Fun day at the beach, wish it could have lasted longer! Everything was fun except for having an allergic reaction to my suncreen, yikes! My favorite part was the baby sand dollars we found in the sand that crept across our hands. It was amazing!

This look should be trademarked. It's definitely an Owens characteristic, first witnessed in my baby sister Ashley when she was younger, and now I've seen a recurrence in my own baby girl! She may not look like me, but this look definitely came from my dad!

And please, check out the crazy get-up. She styled herself, lol. And she seems to think the headband goes better this way, haha.

LATER THAT DAY...there seems to be a mess of shredded toilet paper on the couch...who could have done it?!

I remember a time when I could keep Corbin off of the kitchen table just by making sure that the chairs were pushed under. Those days are LONG GONE!!

Washable crayons, I might add. And she's happy, of course.

Ryan does keep the crayons and coloring book on top of the fridge these days. So far she has yet to figure out how to climb up there. Let's hope it stays that way! :)

At this point we were officially 100% moved in to the new place, and Corbin was scribbling on her NEW AWESOME FRONT PORCH WITH OVERHANG PROVIDING SHADE!!

Did I mention we like the new place? :)

So we spend a lot of time out front these days, hanging in our cool folding chairs, sipping hot tea, enjoying the summer breeze. And then school started back for me two weeks ago. :P Ah well, I enjoyed it while it lasted!

We spent several hours at the old place cleaning like crazy and Corbin spent a good bit of time in her pack-n-play watching Yo Gabba Gabba. It must have been exhausting!

It was so relieving to get all that cleaning done, and Corbin really is the best baby because she was super chill about it. She did "want a piece of pizza!" and so we ordered some Domino's while we worked. I couldn't ask for a better child! :) And here she was just super exhausted and finally passed out in the nap she absolutely refused to take in the pack-n-play.

This day in particular we went to the old house to load up a few things from the backyard, like Corbin's sandbox and Ryan's weight bench. Corbin REALLY wanted to play in the dirt (there was a giant bald spot in the middle of the yard that always annoyed me), and she REALLY went to town. And apparently it was very tasty!

Also, right after we had arrived, she fell and re-scraped her knee. She cried for a minute, but then went about her merry way. Look how caked up with dirt it got! That was NOT fun to clean, let me tell you.

At least she had a good time, right? She really knows how to give it her all, haha.

134:365 Flower Child

Fourth of July...seems like forever ago. Oh, that's because it kinda was! lol

We didn't wear red, white, and blue. My Corbs wore a bright yellow dress and spent much of her day outdoors. Have I ever mentioned how much this baby loves being in nature? She's obsessed with all the trees in our new yard, especially the big Mimosa tree in the front. On this day in particular, she had picked some "flowers" and then went to stand under a tree. She was so happy.

Earlier that day, we got our very first scraped knee! She was not too happy, but it doesn't look so bad!

See? Not bad at all! (Until she scraped it for the second and THIRD time, but that's later, lol.)

And here's another picture of her basking in the sun under her tree. She loves it!

And later that night we got a free fireworks show. Someone obviously crossed state lines! Corbin was terrified, but I had fun. The new neighborhood is pretty okay. :)

Gotta watch out for the mosquitoes, though! I miss that truck that drove through our old neighborhood!

First bath at the new place and one thing we learned VERY quickly is that the water gets SUPER HOT here! At our old place, I took showers with the hot water turned up all the way up as far as it would go. Here, you can barely put it halfway before it scalds your skin! No worries, no babies were burned in the making of this picture!

Although she did protest quite a bit to me wiping all the mess off her face. I'm assuming it's peanut butter, a staple food in the Corbi-lou diet. :)

So this was our first official moving day, because we finally had utilities at the new place, and we went on over to Lowe's to get a key made since the machine was broken at Walmart. And I LOVE stores that have buggies shaped like cars!

Corbin was steering with both wheels until she found the horn, heehee.

And if you haven't figured it out by now, why YES, we do shop in our pajamas regularly! I don't really do it myself much anymore because I see waaaaaaaay too many of my students when I'm out and about, but I admit I had on some rainbow striped pants very recently on a Walmart excursion, lol. :)

Last day of June, we MADE IT!!! And what do you know, a sleeping baby picture. It seems I tend to leave off with these. :) They are so peaceful and precious!

Corbin and the Madison, hanging out on the couch one lazy afternoon (we've had quite a few of those this summer). She never actually falls asleep when she's not in her crib, but she does like to zone out and snuggle under her favorite blankie.

And I can't forget about my oldest child, the Winnie-Wags! I love all three of my babies very much. :)

Yes, I know, I know. How did I get so lucky? Not only do I have the cutest doggies in the world, but I also have the most adorable child and sexiest husband alive. ;) It's a hard life, lol.

For a few months, I've been thinking of moving when our lease ended at the beginning of July. I love our original house in this area, but the rent was really steep. We didn't have time to keep coming down here to house hunt (we lived 5 hours away!), so we jumped on one of the first places we looked at. Now that we had been here a year, we took our time and finally found the perfect new place for us!

Too say we love this place is an understatement. It's a smaller house, but with a bigger yard, in a very quiet neighborhood. This was our first visit to the place and we were pretty happy to get started moving! :)

If there's one thing that Corbin is absolutely obsessed with right now, it is playing drums. This is her first official set-up. She actually has really good rhythm! :)

Get a haircut, ya hippy!!

Pretty much everyday after this, she got in the cabinet, pulled all the pots out, and played drums with them. Thankfully, she now has a real drum. Thanks, Grandma! :)

So we finally made it back home after our Macon-excursion, and we had some much needed grocery shopping to do!

In other news...when will we ever break Corbin from the paci?! I will say that lately we haven't let her have it on outings unless there's a total meltdown, so we're down to paci only when sleeping. Baby steps. :)

This day was particularly exciting because Corbin got to spend lots of time with her favorite cousin, Allison!

We started off with swimming at Granny's! This time I joined them for a bit!

After the pool, we got dressed and went to Great Granddaddy's house for our first fishing excursion! Blake, Corbin, and Allison in the back of Granddaddy's truck on the way down to the pond.

The catfish were awesome, but this is definitely the biggest catch. ;)

This picture is me, stuck in the mud, after I had to go in after Corbin. She insisted she was going swimming in the pond, yet we both immediately sank into the mud. After handing her off to my mama, I had to dig my flip-flop out. Awesome!

And we caught lots of fish, but the girls were TOTALLY exhausted! This was them before we even made it home!

I hadn't been fishing in forever, but now I'm dying to go again! The catfish were delicious and everyone had a ton of fun! :)

Originally my Nanna was scheduled to have back surgery on the 18th of June, and I was going to stay with her for a few days and help her with her recovery. It turned out the surgery was postponed, but the plans were already made, so we hopped in the car and trekked on up to Nanna's.

Corbin has a hard time sleeping when we go visit other people, but her new Gabba DVD was helping things along. :)

Also, please ignore how AWFUL I look here (3 hours in the car will do that to you!) or the crappy quality picture from Ryan's phone. We were tired, and trying to snuggle! :P

So Corbin was looking as cute as ever in her cupcake onesie and tutu-style skirt, and she had already pulled my rain boots out of the closet, so I figured I could snap a few pictures of her looking extra silly!

It didn't take long before she realized she couldn't even pick up her feet!

She's so silly! Now if only I had somewhere to be in the rain where I could justify wearing the coolest rain boots of all time! (Thanks again, Bridget! One of the best birthday presents ever, they were! :D)

So what do you think of the new layout?! I spent a good bit of time working on it today, and I'm pretty pleased. I like changing things up, not to mention it motivated me to go ahead and get myself semi-caught up! I know I'm now over a MONTH behind, eek! My goal is to get caught up before I go back to work next week. Let's see how that goes! :P

I had been looking for a wagon for Corbin for a while because I wanted to have one to take to the beach. Grandma Lewis definitely came through! They came to visit and brought Corbin her very own wagon! She loves the thing. These pictures are from her first ride in it. :)

Checking my calendar, June 12th was a Saturday, and it seems that we needed to get ourselves out of Hinesville for the day and so we traveled to Savannah. We always let Corbin play when we go to the Oglethorpe Mall, but this time she was a little more adventurous than usual!

So today it hit me that I'm exactly a month behind on uploading to Corbin's 365 and her blog. It's been a stressful few weeks, for those of you who know what moving is like, especially with a toddler on board. It's FINALLY over, as of this morning, when we had our check-out inspection at the other place and turned over our keys. We're officially residents of the exciting town of Ludowici (yes, that was a joke).

And I also ran out of room on my memory card in the camera, so it was time to stop putting off those uploads and finally get to editing. So, let's take a trip back in time to early June...

6/8/10

Just another day hanging at the house, but Corbin was STANDING on her walker/pushy thingie (what exactly is that thing, anyway?) while watching Nihao Kai-lan. It cracked me up, especially when I realized it looked kinda like a baby Segway!

VROOOM!!! (Can't go anywhere without that paci!)

And here she is telling me about the colors. She LOVES colors and coloring. And that's an understatement, lol.

So I'm sure I'll get to this eventually, but this child learns at an amazing rate, and she surprises me. The other day while we were moving, she was playing with some blocks. Some of them had letters and numbers on them. She kept saying "R!" and I looked at the block and it had the letter R on it. So then I started picking up blocks randomly and she could name every letter and number. IMPRESSIVE!!! My baby is a genius, okay?

Anywho! On to catching up! I'm doing a week's worth of uploads tonight, and expect the rest coming up soon! :D

On Monday my sister Brittney texted me to say she had FIVE ENERGETIC BOYS that wanted to go swimming and invited us to come along! Of course, I said yes! I had just got some floats for Corbin over the weekend and I was excited to let her break them in. We met up at Brittney's house in Ludowici and then headed to her in-laws in Glennville.

Corbin and Tristan (one of my nephews) were quite the pair in the pool, with their floaties and rings. I think he had a lot of fun tugging her around, lol.

Four boys (and one Ryan) decided to jump into the pool simultaneously. (That's my nephew Noah on the far left. The other kids are his friends from school.)

And SPLASH! Noah was the first to resurface, haha.

Brittney made the comment that Corbin and Tristan were like the baby fish on Finding Nemo on the sponge baths. That cracked me up.

I recently bought some spaghetti-o's because I'm trying to find new things for Corbin to eat and I thought she might like them. I'm pretty sure this look says otherwise.

I realized one of the reasons Corbin kept begging to go outside and crying pitifully when she couldn't (it's just TOO HOT in the middle of day here with ZERO shade in the back yard) was because she wanted to color! So we hopped in the car and went to CVS, where I picked up some washable crayons and a coloring book for my baby girl.

My Little Ponys! :)

She was super happy! And I taped the paper to the table so it wouldn't slide around. And we had fun naming colors together, too. <3

Also, did you know Corbin was a Picaso? Check our her work, replicated by daddy on the back door (hers is the bottom scribbles).

And so far the crayon diversion has been successful when she asks to go outside, so yay to preventing sunstroke! Seriously, it's hot!!

One of my favorite fleece blankets that I won at Chinese Christmas a few years ago with the family. Corbs like fleece blankets, and the Princess blanket that's usually in her bed was hanging in a basket with her Cabbage Patch doll, Lucy, so daddy let her borrow mine.

Also, I'd like to note that Corbin yanked the blanket over her head as soon as she saw me come in with the camera. She does NOT like to be disturbed when she's trying to sleep, heehee. She's like a grumpy bear trying to hibernate. Get outta my cave!!

Told you we got new sidewalk chalk! And she was having a blast with all the new colors!

I like coloring with it, too. And Ryan gets especially creative with his pictures. Corbin just likes seeing the colors flow across the ground. She knows so many of them, too!

In other news, the sandbox is out of commission. We've had a lot of rain lately. :P

We'll probably have to dump it out when we move and just get some fresh sand. It's growing algae! Kinda glad I haven't caved to the impulse and got her a kiddie pool. I know how gross those things can get, too! :P

Corbin has a room full of toys, but she rarely entertains herself by playing in there. She likes books, crayons, and drawing. She likes ordinary objects. She's just not that big on toys. But occassionally she'll go in there and dump out her tub of toys, and then something like this emerges.

The barrel of monkeys monkey in her mouth is my favorite part of this picture!

No she DOES love this magic wand. It reminds her of a scene from Olivia.

"And you, Cow, will YOU be merry?" (She says this a lot when she's holding the wand, lol.)

Kool-aid tongue, heehee.

And it doesn't matter how often I go in there and put all the toys where they go, their containers are just much more entertaining if they're empty. (Which is why all the blocks are hidden where she can't reach them! :P)

Welcome to June! :) We had to get Corbin some more sidewalk chalk (she LOVES the stuff), and while she was outside playing one day last week, she found some purple flowers growing over by our shed. She loves plants, especially ones with flowers. :)

I like her dirty the bottom of her feet are, heehee.

(Also, not sure why this photo uploaded sideways, but oh well! :P)

My pretty girl! Her hair is growing back and I've decided to leave her bangs alone. Every time I've had them cut, they don't swoop to the side like they are supposed to, so I'd rather pull them back out of her face! She looked too much like Dora for my liking! :P

Also, she has about figuring out how to UNLOCK AND OPEN the back door. She is obsessed with going outside! She takes my hand and says, "Want to go outside?" and drags me to the door. And I feel bad because sometimes it is just WAY TOO HOT to go out there! Ah well, can't wait for Autumn! :)

PS. We are MOVING at the end of this month! To a smaller cute house in Ludowici. Cheaper rent, nice backyard, very small and quiet neighborhood. I'm going to miss this place, but I look forward to the NEXT ADVENTURE! ;)

Corbin's Day 100! I had a big idea, but knew it was going to be difficult to execute. Even though I wasn't exactly able to capture my vision, I definitely got some cute shots and had fun playing dress-up with the Corbs!

I give you...Corbin in Wonderland! :D

Corbin's outfit includes her Easter dress from last year (12 months size...It took FOREVER to iron and then I didn't even know if it was going to fit! It ended up being okay for this, but not to wear anywhere, lol.), her black tutu, her black and white BabyLegs tights, and a black bow that used to be mine. And Winston's get-up included bunny ears. I was going for a "Follow the White Rabbit" theme. :)

This past Sunday, Ryan and I attended the wedding of my fellow Biology teacher, Donna Fischetti. She had asked me to be her hair stylist for the wedding and I courageously took up the challenge (she has a TON of hair). She had her wedding on Jekyll Island, on the most BEAUTIFUL beach in the whole world, I swear.

Driftwood Beach. I'm in love.

We left Corbs with my sister Brittney for the day, and it was nice to have a few hours sans baby! This was after the ceremony, in one of the big trees on the beach.

I was SO HAPPY to have my baby girl back, though. And from what Brittney and Anthony said, she was a handful! She seemed pretty happy to be home, though. She's giving me this look like, "Mama, don't leave me for that long again!" lol

Hanging out on the kitchen floor, waiting for a hotdog and some macaroni. Apparently she wouldn't eat while we were away!

And I'm SO looking forward to heading back down to this beach again soon! It's only a little further south than the beach we frequent at St. Simons, but you have to pay a toll just to get on the island. Lame! I guess it's worth it, though, because this beach was AWESOME! :)

A quick snapshot as we put Corbin in the bed. One minute she's laying there, blanket tucked under her chin, giving me this LOOK, like, "Mama, please get out of here and let me go to sleep." After I snap the first picture, she yanks the blanket over her head.

First day of summer vacation and I spent it the best way possible...hitting the beach with my sister Brittney! I got up bright and early and the Corbs and I met up with her and we went to St. Simon's Island. It was such a beautiful day and YES, I remembered the sunscreen this time! :)

I really didn't take a ton of pictures, but I did get this one of me and Corbin hanging out on our beach towel, taking a break from running around (WHOO, she's a handful!)

Corbin did a lot of swimming. She likes holding on to a ring float and kicking her little legs around. I was so proud of her! I definitely need to get her a little ring float before we hit the pool again. She enjoyed the freedom of it, I think.

And this picture from later in the day just cracks me up because she was totally lounging on the couch, using Madison as a pillow! She frequently tries to use Winston as a chair, too!

Corbin is so much fun, haha.

96:365 At The Playground!

Last Thursday, my last day of school for the year (WHOOHOO!), we loaded up and took Corbin to a nearby elementary school to play on their massive playground. It was super awesome! She was ready. Playgrounds are serious business. And so are those pigtails, haha.

One of the first things we did was hit the swings. Man, we had a blast! Ryan took pictures, and some of them came out pretty funny, but I really loved this one!

Corbin had to try out every little piece of playground equipment, even this weird thing, lol.

And if there are three things my baby loves, it's 1. Sticks. 2. Sand and 3....

SLIDES! Wow, does she love slides. As soon as we got to the playground she ran up to the first one and said, "Slide!" And she had to try them all out. And there were several.

She was such a big girl on the slides, too! She went down that big curly slide all by herself. I told her to wait for me, and as we were at the top getting situated, she just went on down! And I thought the height was rather intimidating! Go Corbin!

The duty to bathe the babe usually falls on me, and we spend a good amount of time playing, unless we're taking a "business bath" (which is when she gets to be in the bathtub long enough for her hair to get washed and body to get scrubbed), and I wash her hair and soap her up as she plays with her toys. The challenge comes when it's time to rinse the soap from her hair. She's not so big on laying back in the water. I tell her she's my mermaid and I'll swish her hair around. Sometimes she likes it, and it's been much easier lately!

I can't believe how long her hair is getting! She looks so peaceful here.

After the bath it was time for our pedicure! I put her in her highchair, clip and file her toenails, then let her pick the nail polish. She LOVES it. This time she picked "Berry Pink."

How cute! She "oohs" and "aaaahs" a lot when I paint her toenails, and I love our "girl time" together. :)

It's getting about time for a refresher, too. I'm so happy to have my baby girl that I can dress up in ribbons and bows and paint her little toesies...when she isn't covered in dirt and food goatee, that is!

So there's this especially annoying episode of Dora the Explorer where they forming a marching band and they all have different instruments. They sing the same song OVER AND OVER AND OVER and it's one of those that'll get in your head and stay there for a while...this reminds me of that, haha.

Corbin swiped (Swiper, no swiping!...Sorry, haha) the salt and pepper from the counter and brought them into the living room. We sang the song to her and Ryan gave her a shake-a shake-a shake-a demonstration.

I LOVE the pool at the Lewis abode, and I think Corbin does as well! We just have to find a way to keep her afloat that she actually likes! We hit the pool pretty early on Sunday.

Last weekend (not this past weekend, but I'm getting closer, right?!), we ended up in Montezuma at the grandparents' abode. I really didn't bring any toys or DVDs (whoops!), but Grandma Lewis had just the thing.

I decided to be a nice teacher and bake cupcakes for the kids who showed up (or were forced to attend school) on the very last day, make-up day. They were a delicious carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, yum! And I'm not much of a baker, but I can assemble anything from a box! :)

Corbin was more than delighted to help! She LOVES cupcakes!

Picky toddler eating habits are not fun. Some days she'll love something and eat it up, then other days she won't touch it. Case in point: oatmeal. I have had her devour giant bowls of the stuff. And then, on occassions such as this one, she'd rather play with the stuff!

One Monday afternoon, we had a quick cloud burst and suddenly at the end of our street there was a ginormous RAINBOW! It was so beautiful and so bright and it was so close it was like you could run over and touch it!

And shortly afterward, another rainbow appeared over the first! It wasn't as bright, but it was still really cool to see TWO rainbows in our cul de sac!

And the Corbs and the daddy admire our beautiful rainbows before they completely fade away.

What a lucky time to be taking pictures! :)

I love these pictures of the Corbs because she still looks like a little baby with her puffy cheeks. I think we were going out to go grocery shopping and I got a bit carried away with hair accessories. She doesn't usually leave them in for very long, so I like to experiment when she seems to be in the mood.

She loves plants. I think she's a future botanist. :)

Such a cutie pie. :) I still love this shirt, even if she has had it forever. LOVE The Children's Place!

And just a warning, she wore that shirt for about three days in a row, so you'll see it in the next few pictures, haha.

So I'm chasing Corbin around the room on my hands and knees because I'm trying to get a picture...

...of her first bun! Her hair has gotten long enough to wrap into a baby-size bun!

Gosh, she gets bigger and bigger everyday, her hair is growing longer, she speaks in full sentences now...where did my tiny baby go?! Also, please disregard the just-changed diaper on the floor, haha. <3

Alright, halfway through May updates! And today is Corbin's Day 100, so maybe I should plan something special?! We'll see! :)

Absolutely LOVE these pictures! Corbin had a doctor's appointment on this particularly Friday about two weeks ago and I took the opportunity to get her a little dolled up. She rocks pigtails like no other. And the bows were the PERFECT touch, especially with this shirt!

She's looking like, "Yeah, I know I'm the cutest thing EVER."

My favorite smile! I think this is an Owens grin, for sure.

Love this picture because you can see her toenails that match her shirt and bows! We've been really big on pedicures lately. She LOVES when I paint her toenails, lol.

So happy! Kicking those feet!

And yeah, it was an interesting visit at the pediatrician's that involved a pricked finger, lots of blood, and five bandaids. WHOO man. But her doctor said everything looked fine and even recommended a local dance studio for her (she was twirling on her toes a lot, haha), so hopefully that'll be something to look into in the near future! :)

Corbin likes to pick up phones, remotes, plastic toy phones, and other such shaped objects and hold them up her ear and say, "Hewwo?" and then carry on a very one-sided conversation. It's pretty cute, although I usually try to keep her away from my phone, haha.

Also, please disregard the fact that she's wearing the same shirt two days in a row. I'm blaming it all on Ryan. So far since I've been out of school (a whopping four days), she's wore different clothes every one of those days, haha.

One Tuesday afternoon, the Corbs wanted to go outside (as usual), as so we went and I joined her in the sandbox. Her favorite thing to do is destroy castles. I build them, she quickly tears them down. It's rather amusing. :)

I love that pretty smile. I think she favors me in this picture. :)

Staying dirty, as usual! I think she's smearing the dirt into her pants on purpose! You should have seen her bottom!

Wind in the hair! It was a beautiful afternoon.

And my Winston, being ridiculous. This picture absolutely cracked me up. Can't believe my tiny puppy is already four! My life sure is passing me by!

Sometimes I get so sad to see my baby girl growing up so quickly, but I'm excited about two new nieces/nephews on the way! Two of my sisters are currently expecting and it won't be much longer before we find out what Ashley is having! (I hope it's a girl!)

Corbin loves glasses, and she will not hesitate to grab them right off your face, put them on, and run off as fast as she can! I find it especially entertaining when she wants to wear my mad scientist nerd glasses, haha.

She looks super thrilled about wearing those glasses, haha. She also thinks it's hilarious when I chase her with the camera.

I like this picture because she looks like she just had a brilliant idea! Future scientist? I would be so proud! :)

Mother's Day is EXTRA SPECIAL to me. Not only is it a day to celebrate MY wonderful contribution to future society (Yes, Corbin is going to be awesome), but it was my baby girl's due date two years ago. May is my favorite month and 11 is my favorite number, so I thought that was so cool! And THEN she was born three weeks early, haha. I made sure for MY special day I got a picture of me and the most beautiful baby girl in the whole world.

The first picture came out like this, where she was covering my face with her cup, haha.

And the Corbs loves being outside, coloring on the patio with her chalk. Ryan draws her something new everyday and teaches her shapes and colors. It's so fun to watch!

And here he's trying to keep her from getting in the sandbox because the sand was damp. She was not happy about that!

I know, I know. I gush too much. But that's what parents are supposed to do, right? I'm so in love with the Corbs. I think that everyone else should be too, haha.

Okay, I'm back! The wedding was a blast and I definitely found a new favorite beach! It's called Driftwood Beach and it's on Jekyll Island...I think it's my new favorite place in the world!! Can't wait to go back again! So onwards with UPDATING! :D

This was from Saturday, May 8th, and I found Corbin in the kitchen seeming very comfy in the tupperware drawer, haha.

It's like Grandma Lewis said, she is literally "into" everything! And I've seen her in some crazy places, but this was definitely a first.

Trying to climb out, and she needed some assistance.

Our kid does some of the craziest things, and we just sit back and laugh (unless it's dangerous; then we stop her). She has such a big and fun personality that even her tantrums crack us up! She's so dramatic! And terrible two's seem to have hit pretty hard, but we're taking it all in stride.

(Hey, it's the last day of May! Think I can get caught up before tomorrow? Haha!)

Oh boy am I behind on uploading. I'm not sure why I have been so reluctant lately to update, but now I've finally reached the boredom threshold where I will do just about anything to keep myself occupied. Point in case: last night, I cleaned the entire kitchen just to have something to do. What the heck? I hate cleaning! And yet, there I was. I even Swiffered! And it was only the second day of summer break! EEEK! This should be interesting! Lucky for me I'm not too far from the beach and I've put about 15 books on hold at the library! I WILL get through this!

So, without further ado...let's step back in time...all the way back...to 5/7/10. :)

This was a Friday, and my oldest sister Aprill wanted to come visit. She was staying with her mom in Ludowici for a few weeks, and so she was pretty close by. We were going to watch movies, but we ended up staying up until about 3am just GOSSIPING, haha. It was fun. I really don't have anyone to talk to except Ryan, so it was nice to catch up and reminisce about "the good ol' days" with the Apes, heh.

Corbin was excited to see Aprill, as were the dogs. They thought it was definitely time to play!

I know Aprill would probably kill me if she knew this picture was going on the internet, but let's see if she notices, haha.

And this was the crazy scene that was our living room. Instead of watching a movie, we pretty much watched NickJr, even after Corbs was in the bed, haha. Corbin loved Aprill's crutches, too. She was carrying them around the room.

So there! An update! Might be the only one I manage today because we're about to get ready to head to Jekyll Island for a wedding! My lovely friend and fellow biology teacher is getting married and has asked me to be her hair stylist! I feel honored! So yes, getting off of here now (perhaps) to go shower! My hair still has sand in it from St. Simons this past Friday!

Yo Gabba Gabba Live! is coming to Atlanta in October!! Tickets go one sale next week!! I don't care if I don't have any grocery or gas money, we're so there!! (Not like I have anywhere to go during the month of June anyway, am I right?!)

I have been WAITING and WAITING for them to announce an Atlanta show so I can take my baby girl to see it! Eeeeeeeeeeee!

Oh goodness, next week cannot get here fast enough at this point! :D (Although I do hope the tickets aren't too pricey, especially with there being three of us...but it would be so fun to go!)

Corbin can be a mean big sister sometimes, haha.

Winston: Hey, mama, why don't you put down that camera and let me in the house? It's kinda warm out here...

Madison: *runs up* Hey, we goin' in?

Winston: *whines* Maaaaaamaaa, let us in already!

Corbin: *scooting into the front of the door* (I like to imagine that she giggles insanely somewhere inside her head, heehee.)

So instead of letting them in the house, what happens is that Corbin starts hitting the window, which drives the dogs absolutely INSANE! Winston starts barking frantically and then Madison starts jumping on Winston (yeah, she's weird), and Corbin thinks it's the most hilarious thing she's ever seen.

Heehee, fun times! And of course after I took an ample amount of pictures, I let the dogs in the house. And I'm sure it wasn't five minutes afterward that Winston was ready to go back outside again, lol.

The Corbs likes to help daddy put the clothes into the dryer. I think the reason she likes it is because she's allowed a few moments in the laundry room, a place that usually closed off to her and completely inaccessible. I thought it was cute how she was enjoying throwing the clothes into the dryer. :)

And I will say that she was NOT keen on the "all done, time to close the dryer" bit. She threw quite the tantrum, definitely living up to her "terrible two's" status! At least she's eager to help with chores, right? Haha.

A rainy yet breezy Tuesday, and Ryan had all the windows open and the AC turned off. This is where I found Corbin when I got home from work.

I think the breeze and the raindrops were fascinating to her. And I'm sure she was longing to go outside (she'd live out there if we let her!), because what's a little bit of water? Her little feet are so cute. :)

When Ryan tried to put Corbin's beach toys away she just was NOT having it. She threw quite a fit (it was pretty funny) and so Ryan let her keep them out. She was especially keen on this bucket. She had it on her head for a while and was twirling around in circles (AH! I think I have a video for that! Going to try and add it to this post, haha), and hiding underneath it.

So then she picked up on this game we've been playing with her for a while. It's called, "Where's Corbin?" This is where we'll throw a blanket or something over her face and say "Where's Coooorbiiin?" and then when she pops out we'll say, "There she is!" and of course she dissolves into giggles.

So now we have the bucket edition. :)

Corbin is under the bucket saying, "Wheeeereeee's Cooorrrbbbbiiiiin?" and the two of us are CRACKING UP.

Haha, she's such a happy baby girl. :)

And you all know how much she adores her daddy, so I guess I don't need to comment on that. :) Just look at that face.

EDIT: Okay, as soon as I can get that video on here, I will! Apparently the file on my phone is too big to email, so I'll have to upload it to a computer and then upload it on here. It might be a while, but I definitely want to do a video post soon!

Beach day! Sometimes when I find myself feeling pitiful because I hate where I live, I just remind myself how close I am to the beach. And having my friend Summer and coworker Donna come along for the day made things much brighter. :) We made a trip to Tybee and spent the day after my birthday there. The waves were phenomenal and the sun was shining bright.

I didn't break out the camera, but I did snap a picture with my phone. Sorry for the poor quality!

Corbin also broke out her beach toys she got from Nanna for her birthday and she had an absolute BLAST! I feel so bad when we have to drag her out the water because she loves it SO MUCH. I can't wait to spend at least ONCE A WEEK during the summer in the ocean! :)

And me, catching some rays!

Perhaps a bit TOO MANY rays, though! I ended up with the most RIDICULOUS sunburn EVER! I'm still peeling over a week later! Oh well, I guess it was worth it! Next time I'll remember the sunscreen, haha. :P

So this particular entry is from my birthday, and the BESTEST HUBS IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD baked me some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies from scratch. I know, I know. I'm so lucky, heehee. ANYWHO, Corbin enjoyed the cookies just as much as Summer and I, and so she kept sneaking into the kitchen and stealing them from the counter. And I caught her in action!

First she tried climbing up the stool, but realized she was too far from the counter. Perhaps a more direct approach...

Just a little further...and GOTCHA!

Now RUN RUN RUN and hide that cookie!!

She went and sat on the couch and ate her cookie like a little lady, but it still cracked me up to watch her in action. She ran past me so fast I could barely get a decent shot, haha.

LATER THAT EVENING...

So you know when you're all sitting around on the couch and realize that Corbin is being awfully quiet? And then she comes running into the living room and she's covered in white powder? And so then you run into the kitchen to see just what exactly she got into? And then you find THIS?!

And that baking soda got all over everyone, of course! Summer and I couldn't stop laughing, even as we swept up the mess off the floor.

So yes, I had a great birthday, and I'm glad I got to spend it with my little family and my best friend. :) Can't believe I'm 25, though...ARRRGH! Getting old! :P

So the Friday before my birthday (which fell on a Saturday this year), one of my students brought me an entire chocolate truffle cake! It was sooooooo good, and of course I shared a piece with my favorite baby girl in the whole wide world! Can't you tell she enjoyed it?

And here she looks like she's totally regretting that cake, haha.

And that's a wrap for April! I think I might take a break for the day and upload the rest I have slowly over the course of this week. Or I may get bored later and put up some more. The cookie-stealing photos from my birthday are fun, haha.
