New Favorite Toy

Disclaimer: There's not really a baby in the oven. That's just what we say when she starts talking to her reflection, lol.

Teething Revisited

Corbin does not like teething.

But then again, can you tell me a baby (or adult) who does? I've had my wisdom teeth coming in for a while now, so I can completely relate to her, but it still breaks my heart when she screams and screams and there is nothing I can do about it!

Lately Ryan and I have decided to try to get Corbin to bed at around 9pm. She likes to stay up pretty late (to 11 probably, if we'd let her!), and so we figured it's time to get her into a routine that should be easy to follow.

It is not easy to follow.

Nine rolls around. We put her in the crib, turn off the lights, make sure she is equipped with one of the three pacifiers and her blanket. Much screaming ensues.

I have a hard time listening to the screaming, especially because she sounds like she's dying! And I know I shouldn't go into her room and check on her, but I can't help it! I have no resolve! Last night I tried to keep myself distracted, but nothing worked. Finally, I let her sit with me on the couch while I read my book. I decided at 10pm enough was enough, so I put her back to bed. She screamed for another five minutes, and she finally went to sleep. I was relieved.

My relief was short-lived.

She kept waking up and whimpering every half hour or so, and then right before 1am, she started FREAKING OUT. Nuclear meltdown freak out. Of course, Ryan and I start scrambling. We bring her to our bed. We take her pajamas off (she kept grabbing her feet). We give her something to drink. We give her baby ibuprofen. We rock her. We walk her around. We try to stay very, very calm. And finally, Ryan picked up a book (her Olivia book, actually), and we start going through the pictures. We point, we talk, we don't actually read, but the crying has stopped. And she's rubbing her little red eyes, snuggling with her daddy, and we take a deep breath.

Back to the crib, or let her sleep with us?

We say back to the crib (it's so hard having her in her own room now! I feel so distant!), and after a few whimpers, she's out like a light. Finally.

Today I noticed that she had shoestrings of drool coming out of her mouth, like a dog almost, lol. Sure enough, she has molars coming in! Her canines haven't even poked through yet*, but there's those big teeth! I'm sure they are really causing her grief, but I hope it is over soon! She had a bit more of the ibuprofen today, and she's napping very restfully now.

My poor baby! Not many more teeth to go! Hang in there!

[*I just looked up a teething chart, and apparently the first molars coming in before the canines. Who knew? I thought they all came in into perfect little rows! Learn something everyday! :)]

Uh-oh!

I've created a monster!

I thought it would be cute to teach Corbin to say "Uh-oh!" when she drops things.

She's finally got the hang of it.

And she's dropping things on purpose just to say "Uh-oh!"

I'm dying from the cuteness!

The Indoor Treehouse

We are officially moved away from Athens (*sad face*) and getting settled in Hinesville. We still have lots of unpacking and organizing to do, but luckily I have someone to get me away from my house and show me around town...my sister, Brittney! She lives about ten minutes away, and so we have been able to spend some time together, and it's been loads of fun so far.

Today she took us to Fort Stewart, where there are lots of fun things to do with the kiddies (she has two herself) for really cheap (as in Corbin got to play for free today!). We went to this indoor treehouse, and it's three stories high. There are soft foam balls everywhere, and kids running all around. There's a little toddler area for the tiny kiddos and then there's the actual treehouse...it's huge. The kids were all having a blast, including little Corbi-lou.

Corbin had been fighting a nap all day (she had a tiny one in the car on the way to the treehouse), and so she was a little in awe when she found herself in the toddler area.

Reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. :)

Soon enough, she found some of her favorite toys EVER: Balls! She loves them. She likes to pick them up and throw them.

My gleeful baby. :)

After realizing that there were TONS more balls to be had in the treehouse, she ventured away from the toddler area to where all the action was...and a giNORMOUS pile of multicolored foam balls! I think she was in heaven!

Totally digging the wide-eyed look here, heehee.

She's actually very agile on her feet, and the balls didn't hinder her at all.

Next, she scales the upper reaches of the tree with her Aunt Brittney. She seemed to really be enjoying herself.

Time for the giant slide!

Yay! She loved it. :)

And she wanders back off into the toddler area, until she wears herself slap out.

That's my baby, with her pseudo-Harry Potter "scar" on her forehead. ;)

Tons of fun was had, and we hope to go back to the water area later and again to the treehouse. HOWEVER, tomorrow we are going swimming with Brittney, Noah, and Tristan, and we all know how much this baby loves being in the water!

I guess Hinesville isn't so bad after all. :)

Nicknames

It is crazy to me the ridiculous amount of nicknames that Corbin has acquired since she's been born. I guess I should not be surprised, especially considered the silly names that I've called Winston and Madison.

Corbin has been known as each of the following on at least one occasion:

Corbi-lou (Most frequently used. Not sure how I came up with it, but it stuck!)
Lulu (A variation of Corbi-lou, given by my mama.)
Lucy (A variation of Lulu, given by my daddy.)
R.J. (Short for "Ryan Junior.")
Sugar Plum
Chicken Butt
Baby Girl
Sweet Pea
Angel Pie
Girlfriend (Emma's nickname for her. :D)

I swear I'm not making these up! And there are tons more, but I forget them as they fall in and out of use. But let me tell you, I sure do love my SugarPlumChickenButtAngelPieSweetPea BabyGirl. :)
