Babies' Day Out

Well, mostly it was a day out for mommy since she is always stuck at home with Corbin! We met up with our friends Brianna and Annie, and Brianna's beautiful daughter, baby Tybee! Tybee was Corbin's very first friend!

Here are some pictures of Tybee helping me feed "Baba C." Corbin was so tiny back then! Still only eating two and three ounces in those days. :)

And so we walked around the mall here in Athens, just having fun taking a look at everything we couldn't afford but wanted to buy! Corbin was a little on the cranky side and I'm starting to suspect she's not 100% thrilled with her little pink stroller! Maybe she'd be more comfortable in the bigger one? I just don't want to haul the thing out of the house and stuff it into my car! The trunk is already full enough as it is! I guess we can try it out next time!

After a while, we ended up at Gymboree, the cutest store for children's clothing, albeit a little overpriced! I saw so many things that I wanted, but nothing was more adorable than the baby tutu! Although I can make Corbin a tutu myself, it just wouldn't be as neat and put together as this one, so I hope I can get it for her soon! I'd love to get her pictures made in it!

We also found an adorable kitty hat, and so we decided to use the girls as models of this ultra cute accessory.

Tybee was digging it, but I don't think Corbin was too thrilled!

Get this thing off of my head!

After this little fit, Annie took over and picked Corbi-lou up and administered the pacifier. Peace abruptly resumed. But that didn't mean she was out of modeling duty!

Soon it came time to say goodbye to our friends, but only for now! We look forward so much to the next time we get to see our friends Bri, Annie, and Tybee!

Daddy's Girl

Corbin is such a daddy's girl, and I think I always knew it was going to be this way. She came out looking just like him! I can't complain though, because he made her very beautiful. I really love seeing them together, because she is always just so content when she's in his company. This morning she was in her crib being a little cranky (she was awake and wanted some attention), so I brought her over to the bed where she spent a few minutes with her daddy.

O HAI MOMMY! :D

I'm pretty sure she was preparing to eat his finger here! lol

I think she's ready for her bath now! She was starting to smell (I think it was the poopy diaper)!

After her bath, we got all dried off in the crib and got on a clean diaper. While mommy was trying to decide what to dress Corbi-lou in, she snapped this picture of Corbin staring at her Hello Kitty mobile. She LOVES it. (Thanks Anna!) Every time she sees it, it's like the first time, and she gets all excited and starts kicking her legs and smiling. She talks to it sometimes, too. She's so silly.

Finally we decided on an outfit, one she hasn't worn before! It was hanging in the closet and it just looked perfect! Mommy loves those ruffly-butt outfits. :D I think Corbin liked it, too!

Then mommy got REALLY camera happy, but I think Corbin was just DONE smiling for the day! Now she's just going to look at me like I'm crazy!

Well. I had fun, and I'm sure she did, too. But the day has yet to really get started! See how much fun we can have in just an hour or two in the morning?

After a little playing around in Photoshop, mommy has a new portrait of Corbi-lou!

I hope you all enjoyed the better quality pictures today, 'cause I had fun taking them!

Making Monday Awesome!

Right now during the summer, I'm only scheduled for 3 shifts a week, and if one of my shifts happens to fall on a day when Ryan is working, I have to stay home with the baby (much easier for me to get off work at the last minute than him!). This morning I was kinda sad because it was very last notice that I couldn't go, but I couldn't stay sad for long with this beautiful face around!

Yes, I know what you're thinking. Why is she wearing a hat in July in Georgia?! My goodness, it is MORE than hot there!

I answer you this.

Not only was she wearing hats, but she was also sporting some very awesome mittens! (Thanks, Aunt Franki!)

Heehee, she looks like she's about to give me the ol' one-two. Okay, so maybe not. But she was in a good mood!

And okay, the reason she had on a hat and mittens is because earlier she fell asleep in her swing downstairs, and when she woke up, I noticed that her hands and toes were like ice! Now, I did put little booties on her feet, but she kept kicking them off, so I gave up after about three tries and just stuck with a blanket.

Later today, we delved into our current favorite book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone! I've been reading it to her since her first days home from the hospital, and today we are on chapter 7, The Sorting Hat! It's kind of exciting to be reading aloud. Almost makes me wish I was going to be teaching elementary age kids instead of high schoolers!

Almost.

After reading, we spent a little tummy time on the bed. She really cracks me up. She usually doesn't like tummy time too much, but today she lasted for almost ten whole minutes without getting fussy!

Yes, it's a bit blurry, but she wouldn't hardly stay still! She was a little squirmy. And then she made a remarkable discovery...

It's much easier to eat her hands from this position! And boy did she go to town! She actually left a nice little drool spot on the mattress.

[Yes, the mattress. The sheets are in the dryer. I guess I could go and get them and put them back on the bed! It would be much nicer to sleep on!]

After a few minutes of gumming her arm, she decided that she'd like to sit up. But that didn't last too long before we had a major face-plant incident!

Disclaimer: No babies were harmed in the making of this photograph.

She just sat there until I picked her up! She cracks me up sometimes. It didn't even phase her.

After a few minutes, she became very cranky, so I had to convince her it was a good idea to take her paci and go down for a nap, where she still remains.

I really do have fun with my little baby girl, even though she's only three months old! It makes me excited to see what's to come when she begins to learn more and becomes more mobile! I think it's time to get her some new "moving" toys! We'll just have to see!

(Oh yeah and tomorrow I'll try to get some better quality pictures out of my camera! I can hardly ever find it when I need it and my camera phone is always handy, so I get some fun shots, but they are always so grainy!)

Baby Likes Sushi!

Okay, so maybe Corbin doesn't like sushi, but her mommy sure does!

You know how they tell you not to eat sushi when you are pregnant? Well...I'm pretty sure I did at least once. Okay, maybe twice. >_> But it was good! And it was a reputable restaurant and not at a Chinese buffet, and it was also in moderation, and so far Corbin doesn't have any weird third eye or twelfth digit or anything, honest!

So we love Ru San's. I hear that it's not even the best sushi place in Athens, but that doesn't keep us from eating there at LEAST once a week! I'm pretty sure the reason I like the place so much is because I was SUPPOSED to not eat there for several months, and well...you know what they say about absence and the heart and all that. :P

Today Corbin was visited by Papa and Grandma Lewis and we decided to go and have lunch at our favorite place! Not that they wanted to eat the sushi, but Ru San's serves other yummy delights, too!

As usual, mommy got the baked California roll, and daddy got the Tokusan. While we were waiting on our food, I tried to sneak in a picture of Corbin all sound asleep and cute in her carseat:

Now, while this picture was already extremely adorable, I decided to try and get a better shot, without the table in the way.

Oh no! The flash was too bright! She was trying to peep at me and then I struck her by surprise! I felt bad, but she just kind of looked at me for a minute (I'm sure she couldn't really see me...) and then went right back to sleep.

In fact, she's still asleep right now! Ah, so peaceful... [Oh no! I spoke too soon! I hear her stirring now! Awww...]

Speaking of sleep, she didn't wake up until around 7:30 this morning. Her early morning feeding has been getting later and later! I prefer 6:30 or 7:30 over 5-something any day! And she's been much happier this weekend, too! Maybe it was the anticipation of a trip to Ru San's that's had her in such a good mood! :D

What's the opposite of the tooth fairy?

We all know the tooth fairy...the sweet ethereal creature who comes and takes all your baby teeth away, leaving money under your pillow. What I want to know is who is the hideous monster, the harbinger of pain and suffering, who is responsible for growing teeth?

Yesterday Corbin had one of those screaming crying fits that freaked me out a little bit. She was just screaming. Literally. It was her teeth! I wish so much that they would just cut through already! Most of the time she deals with teething okay, but yesterday...wow.

The worst part of it is that we weren't at home...we were at some friends' house...and I just felt like we were intruding so much! They don't want to hear our screaming baby! Ryan took control and gave her the knuckle. She was biting down hard on it, but still crying. We actually laughed at how ridiculous she was being. I decided to run to Walmart and get some Baby Orajel. By the time I got back, she was quiet, but I put some on her gums anyway.

After that, it was like a totally new baby! She fell asleep in the car on the way home and was out until almost 7am this morning. It was crazy!

And oh my gosh, really...she is growing way too fast! Yesterday I broke out some of her clothes that she got at the baby shower that were 3-6 months size...and they fit her! It was bittersweet because she is growing up so fast...and she gets to wear new clothes! Yay for new clothes! I really have to stop myself from constantly picking up things for her, but it's hard! Everything is just so cute!

Here are some pictures of her and daddy yesterday:

I love the little moo-cow on her shirt!

I love them so much. Seeing them together melts my heart.

Speaking of melting my heart, Corbi-lou is kicking me in the leg and everytime I look at her she gives me the biggest grin! I think I'm going to go read to her for a bit.

Until next time!

Corbin - The First Three Months

Well I suppose I have a lot of catching up to do if I'm going to try and keep a daily blog of my darling Corbi-lou. I just want to start off by saying she is truly the best baby I could have ever hoped for! Not only is she incredibly beautiful, she is almost always happy (except when teething...but more on that later!). The first three months with her have flown by so quickly! I guess that's a good thing. :)

Let's start off with the day she was born. I went into labor on Saturday, April 19th, shortly after noon. I was having horrible cramps, but I really didn't think anything of it, since Corbin wasn't due for another three weeks! Then, at around 4:30pm, my water broke. I was on the phone with my family, as my little sister was getting ready to go to prom and I couldn't be there, and they were all occupied except for Franki. I was like, "OMG, I think my water broke!" And seriously, they did not believe me! Like that huge gushing was just my imagination! Ryan had actually just left to go to the laundromat, too, because we were like, "We should probably pack a hospital bag soon, just in case," and we didn't have any clean clothes! Eventually I made it to the hospital, and when I got there I was already 6cm. It didn't take long for me to reach 10cm, and I got my epidural. Around 9pm I started pushing, but this baby didn't want to come out! I pushed for three hours, and the last hour was pure misery, as my epidural wore off. Now I know what natural childbirth feels like! Corbin was finally born at 12:09 am on April 20th, weighing in at 7lbs, 5oz.

Me and Corbi-lou! She doesn't look too thrilled!

And here she is on her birthday, and my goodness does she have so much dark, dark hair! She was the most beautiful baby in the world. :) Didn't come out looking like an alien at all!

We were in the hospital until Monday afternoon, when we finally got to take our little baby home!

She was so tiny, she could barely fit in her newborn sized Pampers! This was our first day at home, and she was so good and so quiet, and she slept great in her crib! I couldn't be luckier!

Corbin a week old at my baby shower!

My first Mother's Day, also Corbin's due date, came and went. My mama gave me my baby book that she kept for me and it was really special. I hope to someday do the same for Corbin, as I've been working on her baby book since she was born and hope to fill the entire thing in! It's just so fun to look at.

Corbi-lou on Mother's Day.

One awesome thing about Corbin is that she has always slept like a champ. Now, at three months old, she is almost always sleeping through the night, waking up around 5:30 to 6:30 to eat and then promptly going right back to sleep! Here are some pictures of her sleeping:

[That last one was from Father's Day! Isn't she precious?]

On May 20th, Corbin turned one month old, and she had grown a ton!

When Corbin was two months old, she had to get her first set of shots! I was a nervous wreck because I knew she was going to cry and I didn't want to go to the doctor with her alone! BUT, I did what I had to do and to make myself feel better, I put bows in her hair.

Yes, at two months old, her hair was too long for the faux-hawk and long enough for hair bows! And she looked so happy before her shots, too:

And her shots actually went really well! She cried for a minute or so, then took a bottle and some baby Tylenol, and went right to sleep. She slept for most of the day, and when she woke up later, she was a little cranky, but nothing we couldn't handle. She went to sleep like she normally did and the next day she acted as though nothing was wrong!

This past month has been the most fun. She has become very smiley and also very vocal. When I get up with her in the mornings, she's just talking to me like crazy. She's also become so much more alert and aware, and I can see her following me around the room with her eyes and really studying her hands and feet. She also has taken more interest in her mobile that hangs over her crib and gets really excited when I turn it on.

Here are some pictures of Corbin and her beautiful smile:

But with all the good and fun things this month, also comes some of the bad! Because Corbin started teething veeery early, just like I did when I was a baby. Most of the time she is okay, but she has fits of crankiness in which there is no soothing her. Ryan will give her a knuckle and sometimes that helps, but so far teething rings haven't interested her. Hopefully it wont be much longer before those first teeth cut in!

Oh, and did I mention Corbin has style?

I didn't mean to match her outfit to her stroller, but it happened! Pink is totally her favorite color, haha.

I guess that's all for now, but check back on the daily for more about Corbin and hopefully lots of good pictures!
