Kindergarten Recap

Holy moly.  My last update was about oh...a year ago?!

So...time flies when you're having fun, right?!  A much needed update on the Beans is in order!

This year we started Kindergarten at FLE!  Here she is with her daddy on her first day of school, wearing her school uniform.  She was super excited!
First day of school! Daddy went back to school this year, too.
Along with uniforms this year, we also realized that we needed glasses!
Rocking the glasses in true Corbin fashion!
Snuggles with Sprinkles.
Kindergarten had its ups and downs, but mostly ups!  Corbin was nominated for placement in the gifted and talented program and after a battery of testing, she made it in!  I am so excited for her because my gifted classes were a huge part of my life and I hope that she enjoys the program as much as I did!

Just call her "jazzy."
Too happy!
Her 6th birthday was on Easter Sunday this year.  Can't believe that she is really six years old...she is growing up to be so beautiful and amazing; I'm truly proud to be her mother.
Birthday girl!

Showing some serious sass (she has plenty of it).

Time to blow out the candles!

Birthday party Easter egg hunt!  Barefoot, of course!
Just like in years past, I took the check-up photo.  I love this picture so much because she came up with the pose all by herself.
Heart hands!
And just for fun, because I am in awe of how much she has grown over the years, I made a collage of all of her birthdays.  It really blows my mind!
Beautiful Beans.
Also during this time, we got a new puppy, Clover!  She is a Boston Terrier like Winston and Madison and she is craaaaazy energetic!  Life is pretty awesome these days!  Definitely looking forward to the upcoming summer break!

Until next time!

Fifth Birthday Party Shenaningans

All Corbin wanted for her birthday was a piƱata. She had a blast as family and friends came out to celebrate her big day (and eat delicious cake). She later told us it was "the best birthday ever." Thanks to everyone who helped us make sure it was a day to remember. :)

Five Years Old

Yesterday my baby girl turned five. Five years that have totally flown by and completely blown me away. I just don't know if I could gush enough about this wonderful girl that brightens our lives every day. She is vivacious, intelligent, clever, absolutely silly, curious, artistic, and so, so beautiful. Every day that goes by is another day that I'm proud to be her mom. It's not always easy: she is as stubborn and hot-tempered as she can possibly be, but I love it. She looks just like her daddy, but acts just like her mama. I would not have her any other way.

Tonight I cuddled up with her in bed after story time and we just talked. Mostly she talked about her ambitions of being on Hole in the Wall and I just listened, but it was amazing. As she closed her eyes and settled in to sleep, she threw her arm over me and snuggled up real close. It was such a perfect moment for me. I know I've said it before and I know I'll say it again, but I LOVE being her mom.

Happy Birthday, Corbi-lou. <3

Birthday Cupcakes

Corbin's birthday party was Saturday, and what a fun time we had! I was happy with the turn-out and pirate goodness. And the weather was beautiful, too, despite the forecast of afternoon thunder showers. Boo to that!

I just wanted to share some pictures of Corbi-lou that I took on the morning after her party, just after she woke up (and that child slept in until noon - she very obviously had a BLAST at her party!).

I'd like to call it, "It's my birthday and I'll eat all the leftover cupcakes if I want to!" Heehee. She's the cutest thing, isn't she? Can't believe she's about to be THREE!!!

70:365 Cookie Thief!

5/1/10

So this particular entry is from my birthday, and the BESTEST HUBS IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD baked me some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies from scratch. I know, I know. I'm so lucky, heehee. ANYWHO, Corbin enjoyed the cookies just as much as Summer and I, and so she kept sneaking into the kitchen and stealing them from the counter. And I caught her in action!

First she tried climbing up the stool, but realized she was too far from the counter. Perhaps a more direct approach...

Just a little further...and GOTCHA!

Now RUN RUN RUN and hide that cookie!!

She went and sat on the couch and ate her cookie like a little lady, but it still cracked me up to watch her in action. She ran past me so fast I could barely get a decent shot, haha.

LATER THAT EVENING...

So you know when you're all sitting around on the couch and realize that Corbin is being awfully quiet? And then she comes running into the living room and she's covered in white powder? And so then you run into the kitchen to see just what exactly she got into? And then you find THIS?!

And that baking soda got all over everyone, of course! Summer and I couldn't stop laughing, even as we swept up the mess off the floor.

So yes, I had a great birthday, and I'm glad I got to spend it with my little family and my best friend. :) Can't believe I'm 25, though...ARRRGH! Getting old! :P

59:365 Two on Tuesday

4/20/10

My most beautiful, perfect, amazing, genius, creative, loving, adorable, and hilarious daughter turned two this past Tuesday. These days with her pass us by in a blur, but I'm so glad I'm doing this project so that I can look back someday at these precious moments.

She got a cute tutu outfit for her birthday from her Aunt Franki, so we got all dressed up and went outside. Look at this bright and independent little lady. <3

There were tons of cute pictures, so here are some of my favorites of her special day. Enjoy! :)

Future model, posing for the camera!

Super classy! Haha.

She was checking out the flowers, and this one poked her in the eye!

The pretties.

Now here she was digging in the dirt, which I was NOT happy about because I had just given her a bath! Look at her nails, grrr!

Love this expression. It's such a Corbin-look. :)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Such a personality!

Back in the house, enjoying another birthday cupcake that mama stopped to get on the way home from work. <3

Couldn't be happier!

So not only did she have an awesome birthday party, but we made sure her birthday itself was special, too. I got her the cupcake and a helium balloon. That balloon has been her most favorite toy for the past several days. Best money I ever spent, I swear. :)

Well, that's all the blogging I'm doing for now. Until next time! <3

57:365 Birthday Fun!

4/18/10

Corbin's birthday party!! Oh my gosh, I took SOOOO many pictures (I'm pretty sure over 200), so here's 20 of my favorites! Took me a while to narrow it down, but I think I got a good bunch. And then when it came time to choose THE picture for the day, I thought the birthday cupcake was perfect! :)

The tiara and necklace was from Aunt Ashley and it was definitely one of her favorite gifts, because she wears them here at home almost every day! And I definitely love the idea of cupcakes over a regular cake, so I think I'll stick to that for sure from now on!

And without further ado, MORE PICTURES! :D

The arrival of Haley, showing off her custom party hat! Yes, we made custom party hats for all three girls and ourselves. We're still kids, too, right?!

Corbin's pink party hat and her outfit. It was Japanese-inspired pure cuteness. And I have no idea who gave it to me, haha. Pigtails courtesy of Aunt Ashley.

Hanging with her favorite person in the entire world. <3

Haley and Allison with their noisemakers! Allison couldn't ever figure out how to work hers, so she would just make the noises herself haha. It was too funny.

Corbin and her pink noisemaker. She didn't fare too well, either. :P

Brobee's birthday! Definitely one of my favorite episodes of Yo Gabba Gabba. Corbin and I sang the birthday song to each other for the few days leading up to her actual birthday. :)

Corbin and Grandma Lewis.

Nanna and Granny.

Alli-Oops.

Corbin coming out of the pool room with Granny. She had just got in trouble for throwing the pool balls out onto the concrete floor of the porch. She's got quite an arm!

Time for presents! Looks like a good haul!

Party Hats, FTW! Ashley (preggers!), me (not preggers!), Mandy (preggers!), Franki, and Allison. :)

Opening her first present. I love the look on her face here! She was TOO happy, haha.

This bag was much more interesting than whatever was in it and it went right over her head!

Balloons and tissue paper are much more exciting than everything else!

Allison and her cupcake. I'm not sure how she managed this, haha.

Not happy that all the yummy frosting on her cupcake is gone!

Empty boxes. Hey look! Rainbow Brite! :)

Finally, PASSED OUT. She really had a good time, but she was completely exhausted.

Thanks for everyone who came and made Corbin's birthday party lots of fun for everyone. The next one will be here before we know it! I definitely liked the custom party hats we made this year...what can I come up with for next year? Well, I've got a good bit of time to figure that out, haha.
