Miss (Corbin) Olivia the Pig!

The costume came out marvelously, I must say, even if trick-or-treating was sort of a bust!

Just a refresher, Olivia the Pig!

And Corbin's final look!

Super pleased with myself, I have to admit! The ears were the hardest part to make, but I'm happy with how they came out! The costume was definitely recognizable because while we were out, some little kids said, "Aww, look! It's Olivia!"

Score one for awesomest mom ever. :) Happy Halloween!

Presenting...OLIVIA!

SO! The costume is (mostly) assembled! With the help of a fellow teacher/sewer/mother, I have made the shirt and dress. They are by no means perfect, but I think for my first foray into sewing, they are magnificent!

The dress and shirt, before adding buttons. And there's supposed to be a pocket, but I'm beginning to feel it's not worth it, so I think we'll go without!

Corbi-lou in her costume! I think she really likes it! :)

And imagine red and white tights instead of black, because that's what she'll be wearing!

And so now I just have to make the ears, and I'm REALLY hoping that's the easy part! We'll see! Can't wait until Halloween! :D

It's Almost Halloween...

So I just noticed that I haven't posted here in two months. Please forgive me. I will eventually get this show back on the road, but I let myself get overwhelmed and so now I'm occupied with other things and this has been pushed to the wayside for the time being. ALL IN GOOD TIME, my friends.

ANYWHO.

It's that time of the year. MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR. I love October, and I absolutely LOVE Halloween. Now that I have a kid, I get to dress her up and take her trick-or-treating and it's so AWESOME!! So Corbin's first Halloween, she was as cute as a pumpkin...

...and last year she was the fair and beautiful Snow White.

THIS YEAR, however...I'm making her costume by hand. And I give you...

DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN...

OLIVIA!!

So yes, we're going to be Olivia the pig this year. I'm going to be making the shirt (because I can't find one anywhere that doesn't cost an arm and a leg *coughAmericanApparelcough*) and the red dress. And the ears. Can't forget the ears!! I ordered the tights today (yay free shipping and 10% off at BabyLegs.com), so I'm not backing down or copping out! I've been putting off making the costume because I was scared to commit to making something by hand, but in the spirit of Halloween and all future Halloweens, it's time to get started!! I solemnly vow from here on out, Corbin will have the coolest costumes of all time because I WILL be making them.

THE END!

I'll let you know how it goes! Don't worry, I WILL post pictures! :D

55:365 *smooch*

4/16/10

Corbin was in a particularly loving mood last Friday, as she was sitting on the top of her basket of stuffed animals, showering them all with kisses! Everyone got a turn! Here she is with Olivia.

Isn't she the sweetest! Corbin is usually pretty shy about kisses, so I thought it was hilarious that she was enjoying this so much!

A baby doll she got for her birthday last year from Stephanie Horlacher. :)

Toodee getting some kisses!

Mwah!

And kissing another of her babies. :)

She also gave kisses to Brobee, but sadly that picture was blurry. Usually when I try to kiss her she ducks her head out of the way, but I know she likes it because she dissolves into giggles. Glad I have such a loving baby!

Gearing up for Christmas

I heart Christmas, I really do. Although I haven't put up my tree yet (you can't do that until after Thanksgiving, all you crazy rule-breakers!!), I did get a bit of Christmas shopping out of the way.

Money is really tight this year, but I did manage to get Corbin her gift from mama. Let me just say I really love Barnes and Noble and my educator discount. :)

She will be getting her very own "Aye-yah" plush and Christmas book:

The plush was $35 plus shipping on Amazon.com, but they had it our "local" (I had to drive all the way to Savannah, haha) B&N and I got it for $10! :D Yay savings!

And then the Olivia Christmas book. I thought it was fitting. :)

It's a relief to have that out of the way because apparently the mall around here gets REALLY crazy around Christmas since it's the only one for MILES AND MILES. We still have to ger her present from daddy, but I hope we can get that over with soon, too! :)

So yay for Olivia! :) She was really excited when she saw the plush and book, so I can't wait for her to open them on Christmas morning!

ALSO, I'm embarking on a quest to knit Corbin a Christmas stocking. Wish me luck, har har har. Reading this pattern is like trying to interpret Japanese kanji!!!

Reading Olivia

Corbin loves Olivia, which is cute because that is her middle name. She has the book and now there is a show that comes in Nick Jr. that she watches almost every day.

She sits and reads her Olivia book all the time, and today I was able to catch her in the act.

She also tries to say "Olivia," but it comes out sounding more like "Aye-yah." Ryan and I have gone back and forth about what she's really saying when she says "Aye-yah," but I know she is saying Olivia because she says it when she's looking at the book and when the show comes on! See for yourself!

Glad there's something she's into besides Yo Gabba Gabba!

Also, right this minute she's running around saying "Aye-yah" and pulling her diaper down so I can see her little butt. Better get her into some pajamas so she doesn't pull it off!

Can't wait until Thanksgiving this week! :D
