Wait...what?
Yesterday Corbin was supposed to go in for her second flu shot and I completely spaced on the appointment until late last night after I had came home from work. This morning I called and rescheduled for today and so we were to take her in at 3:15 this afternoon.
Of course, all the time between when I called and the appointment I was completely dreading it because she was in such a good mood, as she usually is. Who wants to see their baby who is all smiles and all giggles get poked with a needle and have to see her cry hysterically? It's a huge bummer.
So we got to the doctor's office and we sat for a few minutes, and I found myself people-watching instead of perusing the magazines. Finally they called us back and sent us to room six. The nurse already had her supplies and I asked if I could make a bottle to give her for when the freak-out occurred. Ryan was asked to get her ready for the shot and so I had my back to them as it was happening, rinsing the bottle in the sink.
I can hear Corbin laughing and I'm like, "OMG...I hate doing this to her!" and then next thing I know the nurse is putting her used needle in the biohazard box and Corbin has a bandaid on her leg! She didn't shed a tear! In fact, it was like it didn't even happen, because she was still smiling and babbling!
I'm so proud of my baby girl! And I'm also glad to say that she's feeling much better and has recovered from her cold. Now it's time to get ready for our first Thanksgiving!
Here's me and Corbi-lou last night after having some yummy squash:

The most beautiful baby in the whole world. :) And I couldn't love her more!

Baby Stats
Last Thursday was Corbin's six month check-up and she got FOUR SHOTS.
FOUR.
It was awful.
This time we were prepared and already had a bottle ready to go, since that soothes her very quickly. One of her shots was a flu shot. She has to go back and get the second in the series in a month, which is sad, but at least she'll be taken care of for flu season! That's one less thing that I'll have to worry about thankfully!
Corbin was also weighed and measured, and this month she was 27 inches long, which is in the 97th percentile for her age (which means she's measuring what is average for a nine month old...very long baby girl!) and she's weighing in at 15 pounds 14 ounces, which is average for a six month old. Very healthy! Dr. Baker cracks me up, though, because he kept telling us that she was perfect and that we did a great job with her and stuff. I think he probably tells that to all of his patients!
Anywho, here is the picture that I promised!

Heehee, her little tongue cracks me up.
And okay, I have two pictures. :P

I love this one! She can manipulate her own paci very well, and instead of sticking it in her mouth, I usually just hand it to her and let her practice doing it herself. She likes to stick her thumb down inside of it while it's in her mouth. She's pretty good at sucking her thumb. She also will suck on clothes and shoes if I'm not watching her! One day I was sitting on the floor with her after I had changed her and I was looking up at the television and then I look at her and she just had a mouthful of my pajamas. She's so silly.
And SPEAKING OF SILLY!
She's started doing the WEIRDEST thing this week!
She GROWLS!
Seriously, she goes GRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRR! When she's being fed or held or when is getting a little angry, she starts growling! We just crack up every time! I'm still trying to figure out where she picked that up from!
Well, tomorrow is Halloween, so expect lots of pictures over the weekend! Big day planned, hopefully! :D

When you turn four months...
...you get your second set of shots! EEEEE!

So yes, that happened today. On recommendation by Sarah (THANK YOU!), I called Dr. Baker yesterday to try to set up and appointment to get Corbin in to meet him and get her next set of shots. Awesomely enough, they were able to schedule me an appointment for today at noon! Nuts! I was extremely pleased.
I had to work today until 11:30, so I rushed home afterwards to grab Ryan and Corbi-lou and get them up the street to the pediatrician's office. Lucky for us, his office is in the same medical complex where Dr. Merritt was located, and they are also in the same medical group, which meant they already had access to her files and records. Nice. :)
As always, they took her measurements and weighed her. The coolest thing about Dr. Baker was that he keeps a chart and he showed up where she ranked percentile wise. She was 14 lbs, 4 oz, and I believe that was in the 75th percentile (okay, so we have a big baby, sheesh!), and her length was 25 3/4 inches, which put her in the 90th percentile! She's a long baby! Ryan and I speculate that wont last...we are both short people. :P
After talking with Dr. Baker about baby diet (we're about to start her on solids, fun!), he left us and the nurse came in to administer the shots. She was brutal! Maybe it's just me, but she was not very nice and just in way too much of a hurry. As we were leaving later, we saw her leaving, and I'm pretty sure she was going on her lunch break. EXCUSE US for holding her up. Oh well. And of course, Corbin cried during the shots. I'm glad I wasn't there alone with her this time. For a change, she didn't want to have anything to do with Ryan, and it was mama who soothed her. I got her to stop crying and gave her the paci. She was totally fine and fell asleep.
Later when we got home, I gave her some Tylenol (just in case, not that she was cranky or anything), and then we laid in the bed and played a bit. She's so cheerful, still! This sets of shots didn't slow her down one bit! That made me so happy. She's such a good baby. :) Here she is showing off her awesome yellow bandaids:

And I was finally able to capture some pictures of the foot-grabbing. She's completely fascinated with herself right now, especially her feet. It's adorable. :)

(She's looking so intense about it, lol)

I also think Corbin was channeling her inner pin-up girl, because she gave me some very posed shots that had me thinking of what her future might hold! Haha!

So yes, all is well. We are happy to have a new pediatrician that both Ryan and I really liked upon our first meeting. He was just really helpful and said that anytime we called him, he would always call back, usually within the hour, and that if Corbin ever got sick and we called him, he would get her in THAT DAY. So reassuring! I loved Dr. Merritt, but she never said things like that, and the way she just canceled our last appointment (without even warning me, by the way. The only reason I found out was because I called to double check the time of the appointment a few days prior. They couldn't fit me in at all the next week either, which was her last week at that office. I was very hurt, like my child and my family didn't really matter at all.), it left a bitter taste in my mouth.
What's in store for Corbi-lou now? Well of course, more mistaken gender issues (comes with being a girl with a boy's name!) and hopefully solid foods! I'll keep you posted! :D

Corbin - The First Three Months
Well I suppose I have a lot of catching up to do if I'm going to try and keep a daily blog of my darling Corbi-lou. I just want to start off by saying she is truly the best baby I could have ever hoped for! Not only is she incredibly beautiful, she is almost always happy (except when teething...but more on that later!). The first three months with her have flown by so quickly! I guess that's a good thing. :)
Let's start off with the day she was born. I went into labor on Saturday, April 19th, shortly after noon. I was having horrible cramps, but I really didn't think anything of it, since Corbin wasn't due for another three weeks! Then, at around 4:30pm, my water broke. I was on the phone with my family, as my little sister was getting ready to go to prom and I couldn't be there, and they were all occupied except for Franki. I was like, "OMG, I think my water broke!" And seriously, they did not believe me! Like that huge gushing was just my imagination! Ryan had actually just left to go to the laundromat, too, because we were like, "We should probably pack a hospital bag soon, just in case," and we didn't have any clean clothes! Eventually I made it to the hospital, and when I got there I was already 6cm. It didn't take long for me to reach 10cm, and I got my epidural. Around 9pm I started pushing, but this baby didn't want to come out! I pushed for three hours, and the last hour was pure misery, as my epidural wore off. Now I know what natural childbirth feels like! Corbin was finally born at 12:09 am on April 20th, weighing in at 7lbs, 5oz.

Me and Corbi-lou! She doesn't look too thrilled!

And here she is on her birthday, and my goodness does she have so much dark, dark hair! She was the most beautiful baby in the world. :) Didn't come out looking like an alien at all!
We were in the hospital until Monday afternoon, when we finally got to take our little baby home!

She was so tiny, she could barely fit in her newborn sized Pampers! This was our first day at home, and she was so good and so quiet, and she slept great in her crib! I couldn't be luckier!

Corbin a week old at my baby shower!
My first Mother's Day, also Corbin's due date, came and went. My mama gave me my baby book that she kept for me and it was really special. I hope to someday do the same for Corbin, as I've been working on her baby book since she was born and hope to fill the entire thing in! It's just so fun to look at.

Corbi-lou on Mother's Day.
One awesome thing about Corbin is that she has always slept like a champ. Now, at three months old, she is almost always sleeping through the night, waking up around 5:30 to 6:30 to eat and then promptly going right back to sleep! Here are some pictures of her sleeping:

[That last one was from Father's Day! Isn't she precious?]
On May 20th, Corbin turned one month old, and she had grown a ton!

When Corbin was two months old, she had to get her first set of shots! I was a nervous wreck because I knew she was going to cry and I didn't want to go to the doctor with her alone! BUT, I did what I had to do and to make myself feel better, I put bows in her hair.

Yes, at two months old, her hair was too long for the faux-hawk and long enough for hair bows! And she looked so happy before her shots, too:

And her shots actually went really well! She cried for a minute or so, then took a bottle and some baby Tylenol, and went right to sleep. She slept for most of the day, and when she woke up later, she was a little cranky, but nothing we couldn't handle. She went to sleep like she normally did and the next day she acted as though nothing was wrong!
This past month has been the most fun. She has become very smiley and also very vocal. When I get up with her in the mornings, she's just talking to me like crazy. She's also become so much more alert and aware, and I can see her following me around the room with her eyes and really studying her hands and feet. She also has taken more interest in her mobile that hangs over her crib and gets really excited when I turn it on.
Here are some pictures of Corbin and her beautiful smile:

But with all the good and fun things this month, also comes some of the bad! Because Corbin started teething veeery early, just like I did when I was a baby. Most of the time she is okay, but she has fits of crankiness in which there is no soothing her. Ryan will give her a knuckle and sometimes that helps, but so far teething rings haven't interested her. Hopefully it wont be much longer before those first teeth cut in!
Oh, and did I mention Corbin has style?

I didn't mean to match her outfit to her stroller, but it happened! Pink is totally her favorite color, haha.
I guess that's all for now, but check back on the daily for more about Corbin and hopefully lots of good pictures!
