134:365 Flower Child

Fourth of July...seems like forever ago. Oh, that's because it kinda was! lol

We didn't wear red, white, and blue. My Corbs wore a bright yellow dress and spent much of her day outdoors. Have I ever mentioned how much this baby loves being in nature? She's obsessed with all the trees in our new yard, especially the big Mimosa tree in the front. On this day in particular, she had picked some "flowers" and then went to stand under a tree. She was so happy.


Earlier that day, we got our very first scraped knee! She was not too happy, but it doesn't look so bad!

See? Not bad at all! (Until she scraped it for the second and THIRD time, but that's later, lol.)

And here's another picture of her basking in the sun under her tree. She loves it!

And later that night we got a free fireworks show. Someone obviously crossed state lines! Corbin was terrified, but I had fun. The new neighborhood is pretty okay. :)


Gotta watch out for the mosquitoes, though! I miss that truck that drove through our old neighborhood!

83:365 Whales & Pigtails

Absolutely LOVE these pictures! Corbin had a doctor's appointment on this particularly Friday about two weeks ago and I took the opportunity to get her a little dolled up. She rocks pigtails like no other. And the bows were the PERFECT touch, especially with this shirt!

She's looking like, "Yeah, I know I'm the cutest thing EVER."

My favorite smile! I think this is an Owens grin, for sure.

Love this picture because you can see her toenails that match her shirt and bows! We've been really big on pedicures lately. She LOVES when I paint her toenails, lol.

So happy! Kicking those feet!


And yeah, it was an interesting visit at the pediatrician's that involved a pricked finger, lots of blood, and five bandaids. WHOO man. But her doctor said everything looked fine and even recommended a local dance studio for her (she was twirling on her toes a lot, haha), so hopefully that'll be something to look into in the near future! :)

More new pajamas, and this time it seems as though her request has been answered! Goodness, how I adore this silly, silly child!



Also, have I ever mentioned how much this baby girl absolutely loves her daddy?



She also adores writing utensils and lately we've been finding suspicious pen and crayon marks on just about everything, despite our best efforts to keep them out of her reach!

59:365 Two on Tuesday

My most beautiful, perfect, amazing, genius, creative, loving, adorable, and hilarious daughter turned two this past Tuesday. These days with her pass us by in a blur, but I'm so glad I'm doing this project so that I can look back someday at these precious moments.

She got a cute tutu outfit for her birthday from her Aunt Franki, so we got all dressed up and went outside. Look at this bright and independent little lady. <3

So not only did she have an awesome birthday party, but we made sure her birthday itself was special, too. I got her the cupcake and a helium balloon. That balloon has been her most favorite toy for the past several days. Best money I ever spent, I swear. :)

I'm not sure what had gotten into Corbin on this night in particular, but wow, she was psychotically happy! Let these picture speak for themselves!

I was like, "Corbin! Say 'cheese!'" Corbin said, "CHEESE!" and gave me this crazy smile. Love it, love it, love it! LOL

33:365 Wide Awake!

Sometimes Corbin does NOT want to go to bed at night. She's like a minature teenager and that she stays up late and then sleeps in late the next day! Not that I'm complaining because she still goes to bed before I do, but sometimes I wish she'd get tired earlier in the evening, haha.



Look at how much energy she has! Of course, it really cracked her up every time the camera flashed in these pictures. Otherwise her room was pitch black!



There's that pink blanket again! She can't live without it!

First Haircut!

This drives me bonkers. Corbin's hair is growing very quickly and getting long, and it will NOT stay out of her face unless I force it with clips and rubber bands, which always mysteriously disappear as soon as my back is turned!

I've been toying with the idea of getting Corbin's bangs trimmed or just doing it myself, and finally today I decided I'd had enough! Her hair is always in her face and gets in the way she she's eating or doing anything else, so it had to go!

To the salon we went!

Here's my baby getting all happy and excited in the hair cutting chair. Honestly, I didn't expect her to be so cheerful!


She was also REALLY excited about the ginormous mirror, and she was all giggles! She's such a vain baby! (She tried to climb into the mirror in our bathroom today. She's really interested in that adorable baby she sees in there!)

Look at those crazy bangs! Time to snip them off!


So I told the lady I didn't want her bangs to be blunt straight across. I just don't think it's cute. I wanted the side-sweeping thing, and that's what we went for.

There was a lot of action involved, as is proven in these shots, because if there's one thing Corbin is not good at, it's holding still!


Every time she'd get her bangs in place and ready to start snipping, Corbin would toss her head to the side. Ryan was trying to hold her. I don't know how we managed, lol.

And yeah, they look kinda wonky in the picture, but they actually look really nice. I'm very pleased. It was especially nice because after all of that, the lady didn't charge us a thing! She just gave me her card and said for me to remember her when I needed hair services! She was super sweet! And she carried Corbin away and gave her candy. And of course my baby loves her some candy. :)

Look at that happy baby! I'd say she's pleased to be able to see clearly for the first time in months without an annoying ponytail! :)


The first of many haircuts, I'm sure! I saved the snippings to put in her baby book. Maybe that makes me weird, but she's my baby and I want to remember all of these ridiculous little milestones someday. :)

The Costs of Raising a Child

Everyone always told me when I said that I wanted a baby that having one would be very expensive.

Then I got pregnant.

And of course, I began to hear about these costs more than ever. Formula, diapers, wipes, pacifiers, clothes, bottles, extra nipples for bottles, hair bows, shampoo and baby wash, toys, the crib, bedding for the crib, a car seat, a swing, a bouncy chair...there were so many things that you'd need to buy! It was a little daunting, I must admit.

But so far, we've been pretty lucky on the cost front. I have found that the most expensive item by far that we've had to almost continually purchase are batteries. No joke! Everything takes batteries! And not only does everything take batteries, everything takes all different sizes of batteries! So I'm buying AA for the mobile on the bassinet, AAA for something else, C for the swing, D for the bouncy chair...I mean, will it ever end?!

Of course the answer is "no." Gone are the days of good old fashioned toys...we live in the age of technology! Everything has lights and sounds and good vibrations!

But honestly, I can't complain. Not when it makes her this happy:



This is the first time the bouncy chair has had working batteries in it since she was old enough to appreciate it! She gets SO EXCITED when I hook this thing up!

Despite the costs, I couldn't be happier. I'd rather struggle a little bit and have my baby girl than have all the money in the world!
